PICTURES DON'T DO IT JUSTICE

As you read this, Erin and I will be working our way back to Madisonville, concluding a 15-day road trip that included parts of nine states, four time zones, and over 5,300 miles.

During this time, we have seen many sights that heretofore we had only seen in articles and pictures. Some of the most beautiful places in our country, even the most beautiful pictures cannot replace the reality of experiencing them for yourself (although if you want to come look through the over 3,000 pictures we took along the way, come on.)

Every night, we have concluded our day by going back through all the day's pics and movie clips, reliving the day's activities. Even though we had been there just hours earlier, the photographs were simply not the same as having been there.

Looking through these pics, and seeing some of these places for the first time ourselves, I could not help but be struck by the parallels between involvement in the life of the church and taking in these natural wonders.

It's one thing to see pictures of, and hear stories about, things that we have not seen, but even the most accurate and detailed report is not the same as having been there yourself.

We've got some great things lined up for the next few weeks in worship and in the life of our church, and I pray that you will make it a part of your life to be present in these things, for there are some things, such as the life of a congregation growing, loving, worshiping, serving, praying, laughing, crying, and sustaining with each other.

See You Sunday!
