Turning the Page

As 2012 comes to a close, I want to say thank you for the tremendous gift of the life of North Cross UMC during this past year. Thinking back to this day last year, I am overwhelmed by how much God has done some tremendous work in all of our lives through the ministry of this fine church.

A great thing about this day is that it is not only a day of reflection, but also a day of anticipation.

While you and yours go through this day, and turn the page for next year, may we all look forward with a sense of grateful anticipation for what God is preparing to do in our midst.

It would be great to be able to sit here and tell you exactly what all is coming in 2013, but none of us can do that, personally or professionally.

What we can do, however, is always keep at the forefront of our hearts and minds is that we will get through 2013 the same way that we got through 2012 and every other year before, and that is through nothing more and nothing less than the tremendous grace, peace, mercy, and love that comes only from God, through Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I would love to tell you that 2013 will be a year of nothing but tremendous success for all of us on every level of our life, but the reality is that 2013 will be full of highs and lows for each of us.

The only resolution I will ask any of you to make for 2013 is to live a life that is in perspective, a life that is centered on living as ones who are the product of God's love.

And as Kathy so eloquently reminded us yesterday, the single best way to do this is to make sure that we are consistently fed and feeding others through our shared life in the body of Christ, the church.

Grace and Peace,

Lamar
