We Aren't On Our Own in This

I must admit to you that in preparing the message for this upcoming Sunday, I struggled a lot to hear what the text has to say.  Romans 9:1-5 is the start of a much longer discourse that includes chapters 9-11, and by itself it does not, on the surface, lend itself to the preaching event.

Good thing that reading and hearing the scripture is not meant to be done on an individual level.  We as people of the Methodist tradition believe that scripture is twice-inspired: once when written and again when read.  When we read the text, we read it not on our own, but with the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

Whether it is in the reading and study of scripture, or anything else in life, let us remember that we are never alone, and through God's grace shown to us through Christ by the Holy Spirit, God will show us that which we need to be faithful disciples.  As you go through the rest of your week, draw strength from being reminded of God's abiding love in your life.

See you Soon!
